Aristata’s £52M fund aims to win at least ten cases, recover millions of dollars through settlements for harmed communities, and deliver legislative and policy changes through legal victories. Aristata invests in a diversified portfolio of litigation cases across a range of impact sectors—including environment, climate change, human rights, justice reform, access to justice, foreign aid and equality—where law can be used as a potent tool for social and environmental change. Through its initial successes, Aristata has demonstrated how commercially-funded strategic litigation can be used in the interest of vulnerable communities, to crowd additional capital into the field, and, through threat of litigation, deter future bad behavior by corporations.
